Study 2: Managing Composite Projects
Following
a successful AHM application to the New Opportunities Fund
for Integrated Children’s Centres, Wrexham County
Borough Council appointed AHM to project manage the implementation.
The
Project consisted of the construction, commissioning and
service implementation of four sub-projects on remote sites
managed by different committees. The purpose of the individual
projects was to deliver local services to those in need.
The delivery of the project locally was paramount to the
long-term success of each individual project.
The AHM approach set the project parameters and provided
a framework for local Project Leaders to enable them to
control and achieve their project objectives within a defined
timetable.
The
overall project was controlled by a Project Board where
each member had clearly defined responsibilities. This structure
was cascaded to the local Project Groups and the same disciplines
applied.
